Pricetag
As some of you may know when the supply of a product decreases the price rises. The same thing happens when the demand of that product increases. An obvious fact is that when demand is greater than supply the price of the product is high.
So... what about love? What about it? Love is not a product, it is not merchandise. I think we can easily agree on that. If anyone demands of you to pay any kind of “price” for it then it’s not the “thing”. Nope. All counterfeits, registered trademarks or not.
But let’s suppose for a moment that love is a … thing. Fancy we can put a nice price tag on it ... with "99 cents" of course. The laws of supply and demand are now applying to it.
There are almost 7 billion people on this planet, each and everyone needs attention, to be cared of, simply to receive love. Animals also need to be loved but unfortunately they are not allowed to use currency. So we won’t take them into account. (Sorry Fluffy, you can’t use currency today)
On the other hand we have the people that supply it, the … ahhhh and … ahhhh. Well ... after all men and women love each other, right? And their children and their parents and even their cat and dog too. If it’s theirs they’ll surely love it. So how many people really love others? A wise man once said: you cannot really love others if you cannot first love yourself. Yes indeed, one cannot give the thing (s)he doesn’t have. Peace and self-content. Most people lack them so they hate themselves for that. “Me, hating myself?! No way! I’m just applying a self-pity and self-induced depression treatment to myself.”
So how many people really give real love and how many really need it? It seems that real love it’s a rather scarce thing so we can’t give it away so cheap. It’s hard to estimate and write down a price on a scrap of paper. I’ll skip a lot of calculus, save a tree and just write down a shorter price tag: PRICELESS.
In an imaginary world it’s easy to speak about love. In the real one… can’t touch it with Microeconomics. Maybe physics, Thermodynamics. You know the air that surrounds us? You don’t inhale it you choke, you don’t exhale it you choke, and besides all it’s everywhere and (still) tax free. Maybe love is like that. You receive, you give, you live…
Yip, definitely like air.
